Completed
in 2006 the Glen Brook Green project was a 29 lot cluster subdivision where the
higher density layout created a community atmosphere while allowing ample open
space to create a rural feel. A great amount of preliminary work and planning went into the design
and construction of this subdivision road. In cooperation with the Department
of Environmental Protection, UCONN, and the Town of Waterford the Glen Brook
Green Subdivision was build using Best Management Practices for subdivision building
methods. For this project the University of Connecticut compared the stormwater
runoff from the conventional asphalt pavement and curbed section to a state of
the art section that had pavers and vegetated swales to handle runoff. The
project was a great success on many levels, most importantly proving that we
can develop land with less impact to the environment by using different materials
and methods all while maintaining a quality product.
